It's my second week back in Taiwan and I have started my working life at Taipei city. My office is located in a central Taipei and it is a very busy area with lots of shops, restaurants and plenty of 7 Eleven. The only downside is the journey from my place to the office, the total journey is about 2 hours from door to door, also, I will need to wake up an hour before hence to get myself ready. My working hour is form 9-6 so you can imagine I have to wake up around 5 or 6 a.m everyday, it's like travelling from Birmingham to London everyday... painful journey...
I need to take a texi or my dad drove me down from our house to the Hsin Chu city centre(10mins), then take the High Speed Railway Shuttle bus to the HSR station(30min). Then take HSR to Taipei which only take 30mins, when arrive at Taipei, take the underground to my office (10mins) and then walk about 10min to the final destination... and you have to include all the waiting time, but i have to say, it's very convenient to take any public transport in Taiwan and they are all very punctual. Also, the passengers are all well behaved, what I mean is, all the passengers will have to ques up for the MRT, or the high speed railway.. I was thinking back my time in London, waiting for the bus or underground, no one is really queuing, when a bus arrives, everybody will rush into the front door of the bus and waiting for the door to be opened, and normally I can hear some swearing.... . What a different culture eh...
98% of the people here are polite. I notice the passengers will greet the bus driver when they get onto the bus and say thank you to the bus driver. this behaviour warms up my heart, so I started to do the same thing, after all, I am half Taiwanese, and I have to learn how the real Taiwanese live. I am still adjusting the life in Taiwan, I got so homesick again yesterday and today. I guess I am missing my other half very much and wish he was here with me, I finally realise how important he is to me. The good news is, I have quite a few friends here and they are all so helpful to me, so i don't feel lonely all the time and my new colleagues are friendly toward me too, I am such a blessed girl. It's a weird feeling that I am living and working in Taiwan for real this time, yet i feel like I am a foreigner here, sometimes I can't even catch what the shop staff are saying to me, they were speaking too fast, I have to ask them to repeat what they said.. it's kind of embarrassing, may be there were thinking I was pretending to be a foreigner..... yet my look is so Taiwanese...
Hopefully, I will settle down soon, find a flat in Taipei and can't wait to be reunited with Mr M again, ready to start our new life together. Thank you Lord for giving me so many blessings in my life!!
My dear, I am very happy for you and also see you going through everything from London to Taipei.. I am glad you enjoy the life in Taiwan.. and hopefully you and Mr. M reunite soon...
