SG Trip-Jan 2011~Family & Friends

Taking Singapore Airline

I went back to Singapore in Jan for 18 days for my best friend's wedding and also visiting family and friends. It was a proper visit in SG after a long 10 years since the last time I visited there. I was so excited on the the plan, taking Singapore airline (by the way, it's a new plan A380, wide and spacious). I was planning what to do, where to visit and whom to meet. I haven't met all my SG friends over the past 10 years, not even my best friend-the Bride-to-be, but we do call each other once in awhile.  It was a long hour 12 hours flight and I watched at least 4-5 movies on plan and slept only 1-2 hours. By the time I reached in SG, I was so tired and sleepy but yet still feeling excited!
My dear youngest brother, Steven, kindly came to pick me up at the airport, I was so happy to see him, he still looks the same but just a bit grown up now. SG T3 airport is new and certainly big!! I like it, it's like a mini shopping mall inside, all the travellers won't get bored waiting in any of the SG airport terminals, even the local students go there to do their home projects or studying together as a group or alone. I remember I used to do that when I was a student in SG cause airport has lots of quite corner that you can actually sit down and do your homework.

Mum, Steven, cousins and nephew.

Steve and I travelled by bus from airport to home, and I realised Singapore has certainly changed a lot; it's like a Lego land itself. Lots of high-rise buildings and many new constructions going on in this little island.  After we got home, I took a quick shower and freshened up myself, then went out again to meet my mum at her work place. I spent a lot of time with my mum and Steven, and I love spending time with my family.I feel like mum is so small and vulnerable. She is getting older but I can tell she is still a strong woman at heart. I wish I could be by her side so she can always rely on me, I want to be my parent's shoulders. It's time for me to take care of them!
I also visited my cousins on my Indonesian side of family and my new cute nephew!! He is only 1 year old but is able to walk and run around, what a clever boy. We all gathered at Andre's flat, had a lovely Indonesian dinner, had a chit chat about what's going on on everyone's life. This is what I love, I love spending time with family and close friends

Xuan & Portia

Xuan got married on 11.1.2011 in SG. I was one of her bridesmaids and was honoured to be one of them. Although it was a really busy and tiring wedding but I enjoyed it a lot. Seeing one of my best friend getting married was a wonderful and emotional experience. Portia, Xuan and I are closed since we were in secondary school in SG. Then the 3 of use went to different countries to further and completed our education. Xuan went to AUS for her doctor degree,  Portia went to USA to complete her architecture degree and I completed my interior design degree in the UK. Now, both Xuan and Portia are all back in SG, leaving only me behind still surviving in UK. Although we were lived in 3 different countries, we still contact and call one another from time to time. We know one another's life and until now we still remain as close friends, like sisters. I believe our friendship will last forever!

Florence
Florence is like my little sister, we are also secondary school friends in SG. She is about to give birthday to her baby boy!! She and her husband,Eddie, came to London and Paris to take their wedding pictures, I think it's about 7 years ago. I was their personal photographer in London and was so happy to do it for them. Flo send me local SG food around X'mas seasons and I am so grateful for that. We also contact each other quite often an update what's going on with our lives. The next time I meet them, I am also going to meet her baby boy and I can't wait to meet him and being called, Aunty Meini.. hahahahahaha.

Evelyn
Evenly is my secondary school friend when we were studying in Surrey, UK. We always hang out together and went clubbing together. Both of us are totally different in character, I may look quite on the outside, but I am the loud one in real life. Evelyn may look like an outgoing girl, but she is actually a 'home' girl. We haven't seen each other for such a long time, and when we met up this time, I am so pleased that we can still chat and laugh together. I had a really good time with Eve, I love you!! We talked about what we did when we were in UK and lots of silly incidents happened at school or outside school!! All I can say is we were too young and native at that time.

Peilan
She is the youngest amount us when we were hanging out in secondary and the quite one too. Now she is a mum of two!!! I can't believe it cause she is still looking fantastic and beautiful! We lost in touch for quite sometimes and I was so pleased to see her this time and we had a good chat. We found out that both of us are christians and I am so happy that she is my sister in Christ! Peilan, keep going to follow God and never give up!

Mabel
Mabel.. I have to say when we were younger, we have similar minds and thoughts, for the fact that we were both born in 'March', so many times, I did understand what she is talking about and what's on her mind. We haven't met for a long long time too, and I think I still get her! We met up in Clark Quay and when I saw her walking down form the stairs, I was thinking ' wow, this girl has truly grown up and turn into a really beautiful woman' . I just hope that I have more time to spend it with her and have a really good chat.

Wenjun
We knew each other from a Chinese church in London, and she recently re-located to SG and has been asked to perform in Lion King which is based in Singapore. I have to say, it's wonderful to see her again in Asia, we walked around in China Town and enjoyed ourselves being a tourist. Hopefully I will get a chance to visit SG and watch her performance in SG, cause I missed the chance in London.

Yuping and Joyjoy

Yuping was the first friend I made when I first arrived in SG. We were studying in a same primary school and were in the same class too. We kept in contact for all these years and it's amazing how we are still so close. I am so happy to finally met her darling daughter, Joy. She is a special child and clever too!! How I wish I have one of my own. I remember Yuping always helped me when I first started primary school in SG, I felt lonely and luckily I met her and we are best friend since then. I love you my dear friend.

Meiling, Joy, yuping and Shumei.
The 4 'sisters' in primary school. All of them have became a mother, I am the only one who is still single ... (sad).

Petrus (Guo shen) and his 2 children

We used to live under one roof with our Singaporean guardian. My brother and him used to hang around together and were good friends until he went to AUS, so he is like my brother and also a brother in Christ now!! It's a joy to see him with his own family, a beautiful wife and 2 cute children. Well done, my bro, i am so proud of you.

All in all, I had a wonderful time in Singapore, spent some quality with mum and Steven. I just hope I have more time to spend time with friends and cousins. Hopefully, I will get to see them more often in the future. Thank you God for giving me such a great time with my family and friends.
