Lake district trip-Day 1

Lake district is my favorite part of England. Every view in Lake district is just breath taking. We went there on my birthday weekend and we departed from London around 6:30a.m by driving. I started the driving first for 2 hours, then Mr M took over for another 1/1/2 hours and we have Mr R completed the driving journey to Windermere by 11a.m. We stayed in a B&B and the house remined me of my boarding school in Dorking.
As soon as we checked in, we drove to the Hill Top to visit Beatrix Potter's farm house and I was so looking forward to it. I love her illustrations and the story about all the animals in her farm. It only take around 20 mins from windermere to Hill Top. We were lost on the way and thanks to iphone, we were able to reach into our destination.( I did actually borrow a UK map from the car rental company, but unfortunately, the lake district pages were missing, what a coincident!!). I love the Potter's farmhouse, it's not big but it is such a sweet farmhouse with beautiful views form the windows. We were told that there is no electricity in the house, so it was quite dark when we visited the house. Beatrix didn't want to have any electricity in the house, all she was using was candle or oiled lighting. There were many of her original painting and her father's painting too and plenty of her ornaments collections. I can imagine myself living in this farmhouse and grow some of my own vegetable and fruit, have some chicken, dogs, hamster and rabbit. I love simple life.

Lovely couple  Mr & Ms R and Mr M with Mr R

Me and Mr M. Pretty Ms R and me.

I am in love with Hill Top. I want to breed some horses here! All the animals will live happily in this environment and myself too.

By the time we finished visiting the farm house, it was 2:30 and we were all hungry!! So we went to the Tower Bank Arms pub which is just around the corner from the farm house. I ordered fish & chip and Mr M ordered a beef stew, they were delicious and it reminded me of school dinner! The portion is huge and it's a good price compare to London. You can actually taste the fish and the marshy peas are organic!

I love the white laundry hanging in the garden!

We left Hill Top and went on to visit the oldest grammar school in Hawkshead-Hawkshead grammar school

We were lucky to see a hot air balloon!

After visiting Hawkshead village, we headed of to the Grasmere Gingerbread.

Once again, we were lost again trying to use clever iphone to look for the gingerbread shop!! The view was beautiful from the car windscreen.

Finally, we found it!! It's a small little shop, so small that it only fits 3 -4 people customer at the time.

The texture of the gingerbread was hard but it taste good. Not too sweet and that's what I like, it's so nice to have it with a nice cup of English Breakfast!
This cute westie was waiting for his owner outside the gingerbread shop. so cute and handsome.

There is a church by the gingerbread and the view is so beautiful. We all can't believe the how clear the river is!

Interior of the church, stone floor, and timber frame. Love it.

I found these little red hearts around Windermere and I love them. so romantic and cute.

The night was so cold and I was freezing but my heart was warm and felt happy. I love the wedding cake, so cute, but don't get the wrong idea, I am not getting married yet and I won't be getting an icing cake on my wedding cause I don't like icing, I just simply like the look of the cake.

We headed back to Windermere after the gingerbread shop. We rested for half an hour in B&B before dinner and we had a Chinese! So this is Day 1 of our Lake District trip!
